Planning a session with me

I’ll help you plan your session and guide you through it.

You can get in touch before you have the location, clothing, or every photograph decided. I’ll ask a few questions about what you want and help you work through the choices that matter for your session.

I’ll start with what you want from the photographs.

Tell me who’s coming, why you’re planning a session, and how you hope to use the photographs. If someone is unsure about the camera or you’re working toward a deadline, I’d like to know that too.

We’ll choose a setting and talk through clothing.

I’ll help you consider the location, natural light, and any access we need. We can talk about clothing that works with the setting and feels comfortable to you, along with any uniform, cap and gown, or other details you want included.

I’ll send a written quote before you decide.

I’ll confirm the session plan, what’s included, and the total price in writing. We’ll also discuss how and when you’ll receive your photographs. You can ask questions and make sure the plan fits what you need before you book.

I’ll give you direction during the session.

You won’t be expected to know how to pose. I’ll guide you through the photographs we’ve planned and pay attention to how everyone is doing. If something feels awkward or there’s a photograph you’d like to try, you can tell me as we go.

Questions about working with me

Do I need to choose a location first?

No. If you have a place in mind, tell me about it. Otherwise, I’ll help you consider a setting around Charlotte and Lake Norman, along with the natural light and any access we need.

What if we don’t know how to pose?

I’ll give you direction during the session, including where to stand and what to do with your hands. You can tell me if something feels uncomfortable, and we can try a different approach.

How will I know what my session costs?

My published prices are starting points. After we discuss who’s coming and the photographs you want, I’ll send a written quote with what’s included and the full price before you decide to book.

Tell me what would help you feel ready for your session.

You’re welcome to share your ideas, ask a practical question, or tell me what you’re unsure about. I’ll help you work out a plan and a price before you decide to book.
